Where did the idea for the BOWI Foundation come from?
Prior to the formation of the BOWI Foundation, founder Lee Rosenbluth had been very involved in
electronic travel sales and the Internet through his business. Having children of his own, he empathized
with the plight of other children having to spend long periods of time confined to hospitals while
recuperating from illness or surgery. As a result, he used his background with the Internet and
computers to develop the idea to equip Children's Hospitals with the technology that would enable
children to maintain contact with family and friends during their recovery.

Does my donation really make a difference?
When you donate, you help to provide hope, laughter and opportunity to children during a difficult time
in their young lives. Your donation helps to provide state of the art technology to Children's
Hospitals that enable hospitalized children to continue to learn, play, and maintain important
relationships with families, friends, and teachers. When you donate, you can feel assured that your
contribution goes toward something real that can be touched, used and explored by children who may
otherwise lack that opportunity. So, does your donation make a difference? Well, without it, we can't
make a difference.

If I make a donation, how will it be spent?
Your donation will be used to fund new and existing installations of computers and software in
Children's Hospitals in the U.S. and abroad. These installations provide the opportunity for young
people recovering in hospitals to maintain important connections to family and friends and teachers.
The BOWI Foundation selects the laptops and PCs depending upon the unique needs of each hospital.

Do you determine which computer systems the hospitals use?
No. It was established early on that each hospital had its own unique infrastructure and dedicated
technology department. Each hospital creates a plan for installing the laptops and PCs and then the
BOWI Foundation donates the funds necessary to purchase the needed hardware and software.

How do you select which Children's Hospitals receive funding?
Most often, one of BOWI's currently affiliated hospitals will recommend another that could benefit from
our support. Our Foundation strives to create a blend of U.S. based Children's Hospitals and select
international Children's Hospitals. At this time, three to four hospitals per year are selected.

Why does the BOWI Foundation only target Children's Hospitals?
While having to stay in a hospital is seldom a pleasure for anyone, it is a particularly traumatic time
a young person. It can be especially disturbing for them to be isolated from family, friends and
teachers. The BOWI Foundation was created to provide support to this especially vulnerable segment
during a difficult period in their young lives. We provide the opportunity for these young people to
continue to feel connected to the outside world and pleasantly distracted from their daily recovery
regimen in the hospital.

Can visiting parents use the equipment?
Absolutely. Although our first priority is for their children to benefit from the technology, parents
are welcome to use the equipment when it is available.
