FUNDRAISER BRINGS RECORD PROCEEDS INSIDE FROM THE OUTSIDE
Malvern, PA ? October 10 - The Bringing the Outside World Inside Foundation (BOWI) held its 4th annual golf fundraiser on October 10, 2005 at the White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
116 golfers were present from all regions of the country and journeyed from Chicago, Milwaukee, Denver, Dallas, New York and New Jersey to show their support. Many of the foursomes who participated are tournament veterans, having participated in all four events, and have developed a great rapport with each other and spirit for the cause.
According to event organizers, 32 volunteers and friends were also present without whom the event wouldn?t have been possible. "We value our volunteers as an integral part of the process," said Gail Ruderman, Executive Director of BOWI. Many volunteers are event veterans as well and they too showed great spirit for the cause.
Following a bracing luncheon, the event teed off with a shotgun start. The 5-day rains held off for long enough to grant a reprieve to this special group. The afternoon ended with a cocktail reception and an awards dinner. All had fun bidding on special gifts, sports memorabilia and the trips.
This outing raised the greatest amount of money to date. "We will now be able to move forward by funding computer workstations in Cleveland, Ohio, in Tel Aviv, Israel and two more to be decided," organizers said.
The outing also raised funds expressly designated for Hurricane Katrina relief, and a check for $10,000 was sent to New Orleans Children?s Hospital to restore two emergency care centers in the program "Kids First."
Said Ruderman: "We are very pleased and proud of the success of the day and are already working on the 5th annual golf fundraiser for 2006."
